Ever dreamt of working on the water? Join us aboard the tall ship Zeeto for a 5-day hands-on maritime training adventure! This is more than a sailing trip—it’s your gateway to the marine trades and a chance to explore careers on the water. The maritime industry needs the next generation of skilled mariners. This program gives you a head start—whether you’re exploring a career or just want an unforgettable experience.

Spend a week aboard a tall ship as part of the crew!  You’ll gain hands-on experience in traditional seamanship—plotting courses, raising sails, tying knots, and standing watch at the helm—while logging sea time towards a captain’s license, exploring job opportunities on Chequamegon Bay, and discovering career opportunities in the maritime industry.

What to Expect:

  • Hands-On Sailing: Take the helm, raise and lower the sails, and master essential knots as you work alongside the experienced crew.
  • Daily Tasks: Participate in the daily routines of the ship, including scrubbing the decks and polishing the brass.
  • Sailing Knowledge: Learn the art of setting and striking sails while the crew shares their knowledge of sailing and knot-tying.

What You’ll Do

  • Learn knot-tying, sail handling, and vessel operation
  • Navigate using charts and compass
  • Practice water safety and seamanship
  • Log sea time towards a captain’s license.
  • Explore summer job opportunities on Chequamegon Bay
  • Discover career opportunities in the maritime industry.

Details:

  • 5 days/4 nights: Monday–Friday
  • Sail and sleep aboard a tall ship
  • All meals and instruction included
  • Cost: $984 per person, plus any credit card processing fees. Scholarships and grants may be available.
  • Age Limit: This experience is limited to 6 deckhands, aged 18 and older, or children aged 12 to 17 accompanied by a legal guardian.

Minimum Crew
We have room for 6 trainees.  As this training requires crew to stand watch in different positions, we require a minimum of four trainees on each trip.  If a trip is undersold, we may ask trainees to transfer to a different sailing date.  If a trip sells out, we may add additional availabilities.

What to Bring

The weather can change suddenly on the water so bring layers that can be added or removed as needed.
- Warm sweater or jacket
- Changes of clothes including shorts and slacks, long sleeve and T-shirts, undergarments
- Rain gear
- Deck appropriate footwear (non-marking soled shoes)
- Bathing suit & towel
- Wide brim hat, sunscreen, & sunglasses
- Motion sickness pills, pain reliever and any other medication you normally take
- Camera
- Flashlight or headlamp (red/white)
- Toiletries
- Water bottle
- Any required medication

Bed linens are not provided, so bring your own sleeping bags and pillows for the overnight. All personal items brought aboard, other than sleeping gear, should fit into a soft 24-inch duffel bag; no rigid suit cases. 

Do Not Bring
- Any electronics you would not want to get wet or drop overboard.
- Smoking is not allowed on board.

Check In:

Arrive at Pike's Bay Marina before 9:00 am on Monday.   We will be back at Pike's Bay Marina before 4pm on Friday. It may be possible to sleep on the Zeeto Sunday night before the trip for an additional $50 fee.

Our Cancelation Policy

We sail under most weather conditions except for those that are deemed unsafe, such as thunder/lightning, sheeting rain, and/or extremely high winds, so please check the forecast the day of your sail and be sure to dress for the weather.  We do not cancel sails based on weather forecasts, so cancellations usually occur the day of the scheduled sail, although we make every effort to provide as much notice as possible.

If the weather looks questionable, you may call 262-422-0607 to check on the status of your sail. In case of a weather-related cancellation, you will be contacted by a crew member at the cell phone number you provided.

Should we cancel a trip due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances , you may elect a full refund or have your reservation transferred to another sail of your choosing as availability allows.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you made a reservation and need to cancel or reschedule your sail.  If you cancel more than 72 hours (3 days) prior to the start of your scheduled trip, we will be happy to offer a full refund, less the 8% booking and credit card transaction fees.  If you cancel less than 72 hours prior to your scheduled trip, we can reschedule you for a future sail, or provide a gift card for the amount that was paid.

If you fail to show up or are late arriving at the dock prior to the scheduled departure time, you will be considered a No Show and your ticket is non-refundable.
