Descrizione

Wrecks are awesome dive sites both for the marine life and historical aspect. The PADI Wreck Diver specialty course teaches you the proper procedures for diving on wrecks, including penetration dives if you wish to explore the inside of a wreck within the light zone. The course consists of 4 wreck dives over 2 days and introduces you to equipment for wreck diving.

At Ocean Tribe we conduct the PADI Wreck Diver Specialty Diver course on the locally sunk MV Funguo wreck and can also arrange diving on the MV Dania wreck in Mombasa and MV Fish Eagle wreck in Kilifi

Description
Whether purpose-sunk as an artificial reef for scuba divers, or lost as the result of an accident, wrecks are fascinating windows to the past. Ships, airplanes and even cars are fascinating to explore and usually teem with aquatic life. Each wreck dive offers a chance for discovery, potentially unlocking a mystery or spying something others have missed. The PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course is popular because it offers rewarding adventures while observing responsible wreck diving practices.

If you're at least 15 years old and have earned a PADI Adventure Diver certification or higher, you can enroll in the Wreck Diver Specialty course.

Diver Insurance

As mentioned previously, scuba diving is a very safe sport. However, accidents can happen even if you’re a conservative diver. Evacuation is efficient and cheap but once you reach the hyperbaric chamber the costs skyrocket. A standard treatment can cost US$3,000+ and you will probably need more than one session. We have a chamber located in the Kenya Navy base in Mombasa. They will need proof of scuba diving travel insurance before treatment begins.

For this reason, we highly recommend that you have your own cover. Your name on a valid insurance document will expedite the process. Getting verification from a general cover policy like ours will take longer. It’s essential to get treatment for decompression illness as quickly as possible.

While you might be covered on your travel insurance (you should check your policy for this and read it carefully) it is a good idea to carry specialist diving insurance. Ocean Tribe offers basic cover but in the worst-case scenario, with chamber expenses, the costs can end up skyrocketing.

We recommend Divers Alert Network (DAN) Diver Insurance. They’re all divers and have a team of diving doctors. Their advice is great and they know how to get everything arranged quickly and efficiently wherever you are. After consulting with DAN’s specialists they will guarantee payment to the hospital so you can begin treatment.

Annual insurance with DAN is great value for money. They can also supply excellent short-term coverage from 1 – 30 days from US$10 per day, US$40 per week or US$50 for 30 days. We’re a DAN partner so happy to arrange this for you. Click here to get started.

Cancellation by Ocean Tribe

In the case where cancellation has been made by Ocean Tribe due to weather condition as explained below or for any other reason.

WEATHER CONDITIONS: If the weather on the day of your diving trip / open water dives of a course prevents us from having a safe and enjoyable experience you will be informed that the trip is canceled or of the need to change the diving trip to another location or day.

In the event of light rain without strong winds or big waves, we will NOT cancel any dive trips, as it does not prevent us from having an enjoyable and safe experience.  Quite often the weather will have changed by the time we reach the dive site or will be very different to where the day originated.

Dive schedule is subject to change without any prior notice in accordance with weather conditions for your safety. If Ocean Tribe knows in advance that the weather on the day you would like to go diving most likely will prevent us from going to the dive destination as schedule, we will advise you as soon as we know and let you decide if you like to change the dive trip to another day or cancel the trip for a full refund. Ocean Tribe cannot be held responsible for adverse unforeseen weather conditions, involving rough seas and poor visibility.

We recommend a travel & cancellation insurance policy that covers unforeseen circumstances.  We will fully support you with any travel insurance claims.

Health and No Fly Time

All divers must be in good health to dive.  Students and Introduction Divers are required to complete a brief medical questionnaire.  If you answer ‘yes’ to any of the questions on the first page, you will need to visit your doctor and obtain medical approval before registering for the course.

You need to allow at least 18 hours to pass before flying after diving! So if flying the following day, make sure you contact us first.

Sea Sickness

It can happen to anyone on any tour. Please make sure you are prepared before your tour – it is too late once you are on the boat. As we are not a pharmacy we cannot sell medication. You can purchase anti-motion sickness tablets etc at Goodlife Pharmacy at Centre Point (9 am-5 pm most days of the week…check with them for complete opening times) and Care and Cure pharmacy in Baharini Plaza. Ocean Tribe does not supply seasickness tablets. We cannot give refunds for seasickness.

Divers Certification and Equipment

Only certified divers may participate in scuba diving activities unless they are enrolled in a scuba training program or Introduction Dive and under the direct supervision of their certified Instructor or a Divemaster. All scuba divers must accept full and complete responsibility for themselves, their actions, and their equipment.

If a diver is unable to provide proof of certification, we reserve the right to not allow them to dive.

Divers may elect to use their own gear or to use the equipment we provide. Regardless, divers must inspect their gear prior to each and every dive, and they must be responsible for the proper functioning of that gear. All divers should understand the fact that every piece of equipment is capable of failure, and they must be prepared to respond accordingly.

Waiver of Liability

All divers must read, fill out, and sign a copy of the Ocean Tribe Liability Release and Assumption of Risk agreement before diving services can be provided. Please review prior to booking. Additional waivers and medical questionnaires may be required for those divers undergoing training, depending on the course requirements imposed by PADI.

They will be participating in activities, which are undertaken for the purposes of recreation and involve a significant degree of physical exertion and/or physical risk;
They are aware of the risks of injury associated with your participation in this diving trip and agree to voluntarily assume such risk; and
The use of any equipment hired or loaned by us is entirely at their own risk.
