TAKE YOUR DIVING TO THE NEXT LEVEL

While uncommon, emergencies in scuba diving do occasionally occur.  The PADI Rescue Diver course trains you to anticipate and respond to a variety of diving-related emergency scenarios.  By shifting the focus from your own personal safety to the general well-being of other people in the water, you will gain greater confidence in your own diving abilities whilst developing the mindset necessary to take your first steps towards becoming a PADI Divemaster.

FAQs

WHAT WILL I DO?

Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. Knowledge development sessions are followed by confined and skills training and open water scenarios, where you will cover:

Self Rescue Review

Tired diver

Panicked diver

Response from shore, dock or boat (responsive diver)

Distressed diver underwater

Missing diver

Surfacing the unresponsive diver

Unresponsive diver at the surface

Exiting the unresponsive diver

First aid for pressure related injuries and oxygen administration

Response from shore or boat, unresponsive diver

You will also apply these skills in two open water scenarios.  The extensive skills practise will have you well prepared to deal with any problems that may come your way during these scenarios!   The knowledge developement portion consists of five knowledge reviews that you will cover with your instructor, a final exam, and the creation of an emergency assistance plan for a specific dive site.

WHAT DO I EARN AT THE END?

Take the challenge! The PADI Rescue Diver course will expand your knowledge and experience to another level, because you'll learn to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well-being of other divers.  Although this course is serious in nature, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence.

WHAT DO I NEED TO START?

You must be at least 12 years old, in good physical health, certified as PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization), and have successfully completed the Emergency First Response course (or another sanctioned CPR/First Aid program) within the last 24 months.  PADI Jr Advanced Open Water divers aged 12 to 14 with current CPR/First Aid training can enroll in a PADI Jr Rescue Diver course.
