Putting on a mermaid tail transforms your relationship with the underwater world. Experience the fun, creativity, and magic that comes with being a mermaid or merman.

The PADI Mermaid Course is two parts, and incorporates training from both the Basic Mermaid and Mermaid Upgrade Courses. In the full PADI Mermaid Certification class, you'll begin with learning how to use and care for mermaid equipment, swim with a mermaid tail, practice basic mermaid safety, and develop your mermaid breath holding skills.

One you finish your initial pool session, you'll hone your finning techniques during more advanced dynamic swims with a mermaid tail. You'll practice traveling at least 80ft underwater using a dolphin kick and develop your skills for artistic turns underwater. You'll also explore mermaid tricks such as underwater bubbles, the mermaid kiss, and the mermaid handshake. Throughout the course, Mermaid safety will be strengthened, along with proper buddy procedures.

Mermaid upgrade students will complete the PADI Mermaid eLearning ahead of their class session. After a review of the academic material, you'll head to the pool or pool-like open water site, where you'll practice the art of Mermaiding.

To take the PADI Mermaid course, participants should be comfortable in the water and able to swim without swim aids. You must be at least 10 years old and have the Basic Mermaid Certification to take this course.
