Chorro Eco Lodge

Location

Esquipulas, Costa Rica

Description

Chorro Ecolodge is located in the rainforest jungle of Esquipulas. We are a river retreat in an area famous for the colorful birds, talkative frogs, and lush jungle. We have a beautiful waterfall and natural pool on the premises, yoga classes available, and jungle trails very close by. Around us, we also have activities like whitewater rafting, horseback riding, canyoning, canopy, and coffee tours. We are only 14 miles away from Manuel Antonio National Park in Quepos and the surrounding beaches.

Only ½ mile from our lodge, Chorro is the most challenging whitewater rapids in the Naranjo River, and we chose to adopt the name to honor the number of adventures and experiences this section of the river has given us.

Chorro Ecolodge was built with the idea of providing a space where you connect with nature. Our campground sits on a ridge, all tents and rancho have a spectacular view and sound of the Naranjo River.

We used local building materials whenever possible.  River rocks were brought up for trails and terraces. We use tent accommodations to minimize the impact on the land and each tent has a compost toilet. We are a trending paradise lodge, and we understand paradise is not for everybody.

Tents

Our tents are grounded, set on top of the sand, our terraces built with river rock, we want you to earth down! Barefoot contact with the ground helps the normal functioning of all body systems and promotes cortisol secretion, the body´s natural response to lower stress.

We bought the tents from a local manufacturer in Costa Rica, providing the quality necessary to resist the rain forest conditions, keeping you sheltered, dry and relaxed during your stay. The tents have porches with a chair for two and a table. Depending on the tent, they have two single beds or one king-size bed and all have fans and electricity. Each tent has a private lavatory and hot water shower overlooking the river.

There is no Wi-Fi out here through local mobile networks.  THIS IS YOUR DIGITAL DETOX. You are welcome!

Meals

3 meals per day will be an additional $30 per tent.

It all starts with a communal table and a wood stove. We want you to connect with nature and make new friends. Talks with other travelers and the locals always bring a positive outcome.

The meals are pre-ordered after check-in on the first day and after breakfast on any additional days.

If you need YOUR EARLY coffee at your tent before breakfast, just let us know. Breakfast starts at 7 am, it includes fresh natural juice, coffee, tropical fruit, yogurt, and granolas served daily. You can order additional food to satisfy your desires with Doña Luz.

Lunch is going to be picnic-style. We will pack it (bread or corn fresh tortilla wrapped on a banana leave) for you and have it ready at 11:30 am or earlier if needed. Served with chips (green plantain, cassava, or potato)

Dinner will be served between 6-8 pm in the home of Doña Luz. Have you ever seen a wood stove?

*If you would prefer to bring and cook your own food, we have a refrigerator, 2 burner gas cooktop, and all the basic kitchen utensils you will need. This includes a toaster oven, coffee maker, hot water heater, pots, pans, dishware, and silverware.
