Description

This program gives you the opportunity to experience the underwater world, in a confined water and open water setting – without committing to a longer certification program. If you decide to become an Open Water Diver within six months of completing your Basic Diver program, your first open water dive will be credited as one of the required training dives.

The SSI Basic Diver course is a entry-level scuba diving certification course offered by SSI (Scuba Schools International). The course is designed for individuals who have never dived before and want to learn the basics of scuba diving. The course typically includes both classroom and in-water training, and covers the basic concepts and skills needed to safely dive in open water. Upon completion of the course, graduates are certified to dive to a maximum depth of 40 feet (12 meters) under the direct supervision of a dive professional. The course is divided into two parts: classroom and in-water training. The classroom portion of the course is usually completed through self-study or in a classroom setting with an SSI instructor. This part of the course covers the theoretical aspects of diving, such as dive physics and physiology, dive equipment and its proper use, dive planning and safety procedures, and dive environment and marine life awareness.

The in-water training is completed in a swimming pool or open water. This part of the course focuses on teaching dive skills, dive procedures and basic dive rescue and first aid. The student will practice dive skills such as clearing water from your mask and regulator, and dive procedures such as buddy system and emergency procedures. Certification
After completing the course, the student will be certified as an SSI Basic Diver. The certification is valid worldwide and is recognized by all SSI Dive Centers and Resorts. The certification allows the student to dive to a maximum depth of 40 feet (12 meters) under the direct supervision of a dive professional.

Cancellation Policy

Scheduled Divers:

  • Failure to arrive Scheduled time will result in No-Show cancellation.
  • Failure to Provide Proper Certification information may result in cancellation if proof cannot be found within the scheduled timeframe.
  • Failure to prove self-sufficiency prior to dives (gear setup) may result in cancellation of dives due to lack of necessary beginner skills, this is up to the discretion of our Dive Center Manager.

Tank'd Pro Dive Center Utila is known for providing the uppermost customer service in Utila and ensuring each diver is kept as safe as possible. If any of the above criteria is met, we will be forced to cancel your dives, resulting in a zero refund policy as you have taken the space for another possible diver to join. No-Shows for scheduled dives will also be considered cancellations and no refunds will be processed.
