Sintra, Cabo da Roca & Cascais

Fairytale palaces, dramatic cliffs & pretty seaside town

Location

Sintra

Description

Experience the mystical and magnificent on this private tour of the beautiful Sintra Natural Park: a place Lord Byron described as his ´glorious Eden.´ This tour includes an official tour guide who will enter all monuments with you and a modern vehicle with air-conditioning.

The Tour
Your day begins in Sintra itself; a unique and mysterious destination once home to kings, poets and artists. We start at fhe fairytale Palacio de Pena (Pena Palace) which sits on top of the highest mountain in Sintra and boasts unique architecture with gothic, Egyptian and Moorish influences. Enjoy a guided tour and wander through the romantic gardens. Next is Quinta da Regaleira; an enchanting and mysterious house offering many surprises and which was created by a Freemason. A must see! Then you will enjoy lunch in romantic Sintra village which, nestled into the pine-covered hills, is a perfect spot for lunch. Admire the obvious landmark with two enormous white chimneys, the National Palace of Sintra which was a functioning royal palace until the early 1900s. Then you will set off on a Cabo da Roca tour; the most westerly point of Europe, with a breathtaking viewpoint over the Atlantic Ocean. Known to the Romans as ´Promontorium Magnum´ visitors to this wild, windy place can purchase a certificate testifying that they’ve been to the place where ‘the land ends and the sea begins’. Then we venture south along the coast to the beaches of Guincho and the beautiful fishing town of Cascais. Wander the pretty, tiled streets and relax at the small bay with fishing boats and a small pretty beach.

Reviews of Sintra, Cabo da Roca, Cascais

“My wife and I took the private tour of Sintra and surrounding area. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life and a day we will not forget. This is mainly attributed to the professionalism of Classic Portugal Tours. They reached out to use days before regarding our itinerary. They made themselves very easy to contact, by consistently displaying their phone number and picking up each and every time I called. Our tour guide, Gonçalo, was exceptionally knowledgable, earning a degree in history and more than qualified to lead our tour. He was able to answer any and all questions. He was passionate about the subject matter, which was very refreshing. The itinerary did not make you feel too rushed. It was the perfect duration. The car was clean, spacious, with a glass roof to take in the landscapes. I could not say enough positive things about Classic Portugal Tours, a highly recommended way to take in culture, cuisine, history and all Portugal has to offer.”
