Buying Locally Produced Food: The Advantages Of Knowing Your Producer by Homegrown Meat Company

Location

Grundy County Historical Society, 510 W. Illinois Ave, Morris, IL 60450

Description

As part of our new Ag Lecture Series, the co-owners of the Homegrown Meat Company will speak at the Grundy County Historical Society Museum (510 W Illinois Ave, Morris) and provide insights on how your food is grown and harvested, the advantages of knowing your local producers and how supporting your local producers benefits your community. Both owners run family farms and so are uniquely qualified to speak on this topic.

Their Newark, IL market, which offers fresh meats, cheeses, eggs and small batch ice cream made from locally sourced milk, provides them with the opportunity to sell direct to local consumers as well as be an outlet for other family farms in the area.
