Visit the archaeological zone of MUYIL. Explore the magic of the Mayan culture, its architecture, customs and history. Walking through the jungle, enjoy the flora and fauna until you reach the MUYIL lagoon, a true charm with its crystal clear waters. Then cross the lagoon in a boat and then connect to the Chunyaxche lagoon (trunk of the green tree) until you reach a channel of crystal clear waters where you can float for approximately 1 km. Then return to your boat walking through the mangroves, feel and enjoy the landscapes that this environment offers us.

It is a settlement that, due to its geographical position, maintained a long occupational continuity. The first material evidence corresponds to the Late Preclassic (300 - 50 B.C.), when it would have had links with settlements in northern Belize and southern Quintana Roo, a relationship that broke towards the Late Classic, when its relationship with the interior of the Yucatan Peninsula and has a significant demographic growth, which is related to the construction of some of the buildings that are currently preserved.

By the Early Classic (250-600 AD), Muyil was already an important city where important Petén-style buildings were built, such as El Castillo and the three foundations of the Entrance Group. Due to its strategic location, towards the early Postclassic (1000 - 1200 AD), it maintained some contacts, first with Chichén Itzá, and later with Mayapán. In the late Postclassic (1200 - 1450 AD), most of the known buildings were built, and when the city gained great importance as it became part of the coastal trade networks of the Peninsula.
