Become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor and teach others the joy of scuba diving. This course is taught by Gold Level PADI Frequent Trainer, Jillian Blakkan-Strauss, through Pura Vida Divers in West Palm Beach, Florida. The PADI Instructor Development Course is taught at Palm Beach's only PADI Career Development Center during a combination of classroom sessions, pool sessions, and open water dives. Upon successful completion of the IDC, candidates will  earn their PADI Assistant Instructor Certifications, their Emergency First Response Instructor rating, and specialty instructor ratings in Peak Performance Buoyancy Diver, PADI AWARE Specialist, Dive Against Debris, and Coral Reef Conservation. Following the course, candidates will attend a 2-day Instructor Examination to earn their OWSI rating.

The Instructor Development course includes all training for the certifications listed above, PADI materials for both EFR Instructor and the IDC, tank/weight rentals for training sessions during the IDC, all associated PADI Application fees, and the PADI Instructor Exam fee. Transportation and lodging are not included. We are happy to provide recommendations for ideal locations during the course.

To take the PADI IDC, you must be a PADI Divemaster (or equivalent with another diving organization) and have current CPR/First Aid Training. You must have been a certified diver for at least 6 months, and have at least 100 dives including experience in Night, Deep and Navigation. You will also need a signed medical form and active personal dive accident insurance.

Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

I understand and agree to the following policies:

Cancellation: Students who cancel up to 72 hours before the start of their course will receive a 50% refund of course fees. Students who cancel less than 72 hours before the start of the course will receive no refund.

Rescheduling: Students may reschedule their class for a $100 rescheduling fee, which will be processed each time a course or portion of a course is rescheduled.

Operator Cancelation: If the operator must cancel due to weather, poor water conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances, activities may be rescheduled to a new date for no fee, or canceled with a refund of all class fees less the cost of the eLearning and any training that has already been completed.
