Description:

This private whale shark tour can start from 7am to 9am at the latest from Carey Dive Center in Isla Mujeres. The earlier the better to avoid the crowds. (If you are staying in a hotel in Cancun, please let us know and we can collect you from the UltraCarga Punta Sam Car Ferry dock in Cancun).

Private whale shark tours allow you to enjoy the experience just in your family or friends group, away from the crowds.

Includes: Snorkel gear, life vests, and refreshments including: sandwiches, fresh fruit, soft drinks, beers and also fresh fish ceviche (a local speciality).

By far the biggest underwater attraction in the Mexican Caribbean has to be the much-anticipated annual whale shark migration from June 1st to September 15th. These gentle giants of the deep, known to reach up to 40ft in length, can be found in the waters around Isla Mujeres. Each whale shark has its own unique set of spots and stripes and has a lifespan of up to 70 years.

Take a one-hour boat ride out to see them and you will be able to safely swim and snorkel alongside these magnificent creatures. The whale sharks are an unforgettable sight, as they glide along the surface, their mouths opening up to 5ft wide to feed on plankton.

Tour duration: 6 hours approx.

Please note:

Life vests are compulsory when swimming with whale sharks and no scuba diving is allowed, only snorkelling.

The tour includes a long duration on a boat, so please take sea sickness prevention medication beforehand if you suffer from seasickness in accordance with advice from your doctor or pharmacy.

Children need to be 10 years old and above, and strong swimmers to enjoy this trip.

Whale shark tours do not operate on the 30th day of each month. So no whale shark tours on 30 June, 30 July or 30 August.

Deposit to reserve the date/time for activity: $300 USD per group. Balance of payment is due on day of the booked activity in Isla Mujeres, before the start of the activity. Payment can be made in person in cash (USD or MX Pesos or with credit card).

16% charge on all cancellations to cover bank charges.

Cancellation with minimum 7 days notice:

Full refund of deposit and payment (minus 16% charge).

Cancellation with less than 7 days notice:

Your deposit and payment will not be refunded. Booking can be rescheduled to a later date.

Cancellation with no notice:

No refunds.

Carey Dive Center reserves the right to cancel due to bad weather conditions and will reschedule trips at an agreed date and time. If reschedule is not possible then a full refund will apply (minus 16% charge).

Cancellations due to medical reasons need to be accompanied with a doctor’s letter and will receive a refund of deposit and payment (minus 16% charge).

Once customers have boarded our boats, no refunds will be given.
