Description

Learn about the history and archeology of Florida’s National Marine Sanctuary and how everyone can protect and preserve this wonderful reef system. Discover the true value of submerged cultural resources and dive two historic wrecks sites to locate artifacts that helped identify the ships that sank. Course can be completed on one day: morning classroom and afternoon dives.

Classroom session consists of five curated modules that explore the history, laws and current status of Florida’s National Marine Sanctuary, which encompasses the entire Florida Keys island chain and its barrier reefs.
 
Diving 12:30 PM
 
Load dive gear onto the boat and head out for Elbow reef, where you’ll enjoy two historic wreck dives: Hannah M. Bell and Acorn. Both have been down for more than 100 years and were positively identified by archeological diving techniques that we will discuss in this course.
